Phumzile Gubanca (pronouns she/her) is a University of Witwatersrand politics, international relations and anthropology alumnus. She is currently pursuing her LLB at the University of Cape Town. She has developed her professional and personal niche as a student and researcher in the field of urban and medical anthropology, merging her interests in reproductive justice, African spiritual healing and the urban narratives of black womxn. Her audacious aim is to illuminate the geographies of marginalised people for the purpose of constructing feminist landscapes which are reflected in public policy and articulated practically in investment decisions.
Phumzile is excited to be part of the UI team and appreciates UI’s critical and constructive lens on impact ventures. In her spare time, she enjoys deep diving into astrotheology and practising Smai Tawi, an ancient Kemetic yoga.
