Sophie De Bruyn
Sophie is a third-year student studying Economics at the University of Cape Town. She is fascinated by the way of thinking that economics presents and believes that economic empowerment is the most practical way to make a change in society. Growing up in South Africa, she is particularly aware of the value of sharing resources in order to help those in less fortunate positions. As a result, she has been both a consultant and a member of the executive committee for Phaphama SEDI, an organization that connects entrepreneurs from South African townships with senior university students. She has served as an Economics tutor for the University of Cape Town in order to share her passion for economics with those entering their studies. In her free time, Sophie enjoys exploring the natural beauty of Cape Town, trying new food and travelling.
